About TED

TED is a non-profit organization dedicated to ideas worth spreading, often in the form of short talks by thinkers and leaders. Many of these talks happen at TED conferences, smaller TED events and thousands of TEDx events organized independently around the world. Videos of these talks are freely available on the TED.com website and other platforms. Audio versions of TED Talks are published as TED Talks Daily, which is available on all podcast platforms.

About TEDx

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local events organized independently to bring together people to share an experience similar to a TED conference. At a TEDx event, videos of TED talks and live speakers come together to generate relevant discussions and deep connections. These local, independent events carry the TEDx brand, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference gives general guidelines, rules and regulations for TEDx programming, but individual TEDx events are independent.

About TEDxAmazonia

TEDxAmazonia is an event that aims to shed light on ideas that should be shared in connection with the richness of the region. Each speaker that takes the stage at TEDxAmazonia brings a unique perspective, enriching our event with a diversity of thoughts, experiences and worldviews. We emphasize that the opinions expressed by speakers at TEDxAmazonia are strictly personal. The talks do not necessarily reflect the opinions of sponsors, organizers or partners involved in the event. We believe in the freedom of expression and the diversity of viewpoints as a driving force for innovation and constructive dialogue. The independence of TEDxAmazonia is a fundamental virtue in our mission. Each speaker is invited to share an authentic perspective and defy conventional ideas, often promoting stimulating discussions. That freedom is guaranteed by the TEDx model, which allows us to organize independent events while adhering to the standards and guidelines defined by TED. We, as organizers of TEDxAmazonia, are acting as facilitators of this space to share ideas, providing an inclusive and respectful environment for dialogue. We reaffirm our commitment to maintain the integrity and impartiality of the event, guaranteeing that all voices are heard without external interference. We believe the true value of these events is in the curiosity and openness to questioning, learning and evolving, while we respect the individuality and autonomy of each person’s unique perspective. So we invite everyone to participate in TEDxAmazonia with an open mind, ready to explore new horizons of thought and inspiration.

Our History

How it began

The first TEDxAmazonia event happened in 2010, when a group of volunteers came together to echo the Amazon cause in the heart of the Rio Negro.

Expand horizons. Converge stories. Echo causes and unite voices.

With the acceleration of climate change and the threats to the Amazon biome, it is urgent to resume dialogue and focus on this discussion. That is why TEDxAmazon 2023 is part of a global TED initiative for climate change.
